Raised in a family of practising Buddhists, Duncan’s upbringing was of contrasting worlds, between the serene landscape of Nova Scotia, the hustle and bustle of New York, to the charming small town of Ojai, California.

His first forays were with music videos and fashion films.  He was drawn by the profound impact of the medium and transitioned into commercial and narrative films.  His inspiration comes from the raw and poignant moments that have colored his own life’s canvas. “Duncan is convinced that the craft of filmmaking is also the science of empathy.”  This clearly and beautifully reflects in the versatility of his work, a combination of lyricism and editorial poetry.
